In most cases, we recommend Bacteriostatic Water (BAC water) because it includes a bacteriostatic agent that helps reduce contamination risk after the vial is punctured, which is especially helpful when the vial may be accessed more than once. Sterile Water contains no preservative and is generally best reserved for situations where the solution will be used promptly.
There isn’t a single “best” concentration. It really depends on your specific use case, workflow, and preferences, and different people land on different concentrations for the exact same compound.
In general, most researchers choose a concentration that’s easy to work with, easy to dilute, and fits their intended application. IF the vial will be accessed more than once, BAC water is commonly preferred to help reduce contamination risk.
