Melanotan 2

Melanotan 2 is a synthetic analog of the naturally occurring α-melanocyte–stimulating hormone (α-MSH), a peptide involved in regulating skin pigmentation, energy homeostasis, and sexual function. It was designed to have improved stability and bioactivity compared to native α-MSH, making it a common research tool in studies of melanocortin receptor pathways.

In preclinical and clinical studies, Melanotan II has been shown to activate melanocortin receptors (primarily MC1R and MC4R), leading to increased melanin production, changes in appetite signaling, and modulation of sexual arousal pathways.
